About the Firm and History

Our principal Mr. Nicholas John obtained an LLB Degree from the London School of Economics, University of London in 1977. In 1977, Mr. John was admitted into the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. Upon completion of his studies at the Bar, he was called to the Degree of an Utter Barrister in 1978. In 1980 Mr. John returned to Saint Lucia and was admitted to practice at the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and has been in practice ever since.

The Law firm of Nicholas John & Co. (“the Firm”), was established in 1993. It has built up a reputation for providing efficient and professional services to its clients. Its attorneys have extensive practical experience in most areas of commercial law including International Financial Services, Intellectual Property law, International Transactions, Insurance, Real Estate and Corporate Transactions, and provide comprehensive advice on both legal and regulatory issues.

Mr. John has and continues to play a key role in the establishment of Saint Lucia as an International Financial Services Centre. He has advised Government on legislation especially in the area of International Captive Insurance Law.

In 2000 Mr. John, along with another British qualified lawyer, based in Hong Kong, but with a worldwide practice, established the Hewanorra Fiduciary Services Group, a group of companies operating in the field of International Financial Services, with offices in Saint Lucia and Hong Kong. Within the Group there is a licensed Trustee Services Company and a licensed Registered Agents Company.

Mrs. Leonne Theodore-John obtained an LLB degree from Wolverhampton University in the United Kingdom in 2004 and qualified as a Barrister-at-Law in 2005 when she became a partner in the firm after having worked there since 1993. She is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. Mrs. John is a former President of the Senate of the Parliament of Saint Lucia.

Now that Saint Lucia has established a citizenship by investment programme, the Firm has set up two (2) companies to provide services within this sector.

The company Global Citizens Caribbean Inc. will serve as an authorized agent pursuant to Section 31 of the Citizenship by Investment Act No.14 of 2015 and the Citizenship by Investment Regulations No.89 of 2015. This company will be processing and submitting applications for citizenship on behalf of applicants.

The company Hewanorra Citizenship Services Limited will serve as a licensed promoter of the programme.

Both companies welcome collaboration arrangements with other service providers around the world.
